ODBD Scrapbook Challenge (ODBDLYLS11)

We hope many of you have tried your hand at incorporating ODBD stamps into your scrapbook pages.  If you haven’t then why not start by participating in this month’s ODBDLYLS11 color challenge.

I muted the colors and came out with this 12x12 page that features the Faith stamp set:

Instead of using the image from the set as a main embellishment I used it to create my background on the salmon colored cardstock.  I loved the Mother Teresa quote from the set and thought it was very fitting for my page with my wonderful sons!

Something as simple as background stamping can help create a cohesive page so give it a try on your next layout!

Paper: Fiskars (Heidi Grace Collection), DCWV

ODBDLYLS10–Sketch Challenge

This month’s ODBD Scrapbook Team challenge was to follow THIS SKETCH and I do LOVE working off of sketches.  It makes it so much easier to plan out my page and I can play around with the sizes.

Here is my 12x12 page:

I cut out my gold embossed Christmas Rose and watercolored it.  I think the gold gave my page a more vintage feel and after seeing how young my sons and their cousins look in the picture I was feeling rather nostalgic…even if the photo was taken only six years ago.  They do grow up way too fast!

We hope the monthly Scrapbook Team challenges have shown you how easily it is to incorporate Our Daily Bread designs stamps into your page layouts.  Please join us for all our monthly challenges and upload your creations!

I hope most of you are playing along with all the ODBD challenges!  Today I’m sharing with you a card I made for this week’s Stamping In Time Challenge (SNTODBD44) using the Grow in Grace set.  Betty set out the challenge of distressing, whether it be by ink or through paper or a combination of both or any other way you can think of distressing.  I decided to distress and ink edges and tear designer vellum paper.

Take a look at the beautiful creations of these Breadsticks for this challenge:

ODBD scrapbook challenge

We hope the scrapbook pages the ODBD Scrapbook Team has been showcasing have proven that the stamps incorporate themselves rather nicely into cherished and favorite photographs.

I never use to use stamps on my scrapbook pages, but after designing pages for the Scrapbook Team I am now in LOVE with using them!

This month’s challenge was to use vellum (ODBDLYLS9) and here’s the 12x12 page I created:

I used vellum on my layered butterflies:

I used the Seed Packet set because I knew it was perfect for my journaling which I typed up on my computer (I don’t like handwriting my journaling.  I’d rather use pretty fonts that mimic handwriting).  The large seed packet stamp highlighted it wonderfully!

We hope you join the ODBD Scrapbook Team challenges every month!  We’d love to see your keepsake pages!

Ink: Versamark, Versafine Black Onyx

ODBD’s June Scrapbook Challenge

I started off as a scrapbooker and not a very good one.  If you all could see my first layouts you’d probably laugh because I know I do!  Over time and with lots of great inspiration to borrow from I’ve learned to do a page or two here and there.

I decided to play along with the ODBD Scrapbook Team this month.  The challenge was a sketch which you can find in THIS ODBD blog post and here’s how I interpreted it in a 12x12 page:

(Click on each photo to enlarge)

DSC03403DSC03404

As I was thumbing through my box of pictures I came across so many of my boys together and I knew the Time set was perfect!  Don’t be afraid to mix and match sets.  Here, I added accents using the lace border from the Serve the Lord set.

For my journaling I usually write what’s on my mind, but in this case I wanted my words directed at my sons.  I hope when they’re grown with families of their own they will look back at the scrapbooks I’ve created and know just what I’ve felt during their phases in life.  When I’m gone at least I know my words will live on.

As you can see, ODBD stamp sets are perfect for your scrapbook pages.  We hope you’ll join us every month and share your scrapbook pages!

Colorless layers

Sounded like a technique, didn’t it?  I just looked at my finished card and saw several layers and an uncolored gold embossed poppy from the ODBD Mother’s Day set and thought that would make an interesting title for my post.

Okay, okay.  I also wanted something that would catch your attention because aside from the beautiful images that ODBD creates the most important things are the scriptures and sentiments that affirms our faith.  Here, I didn’t want the poppy to overpower Isaiah 66:13:

Yes, we are very lucky to have such wonderful images to work with BUT even luckier to have so many scriptures at our stamping fingertips!

I love this passage because it reminds us that we should not store our wealth in material things, but to place it in God and in Heaven where it is safe.  You know the saying “Home is where the heart is”.  Well, in the end our home is with our Father in Heaven.

Did you notice I embedded the gorgeous Butterfly Single among the flowers?

Three years later…the lady in Fuchsia

March is always a special month because on the 17th we get to celebrate another year of Our Daily Bread designs spreading His word through the stamping and crafting community.

This month’s ODBDLYLS3 challenge is:

* fuchsia flowers or the color fuchsia for the  anniversary flower OR
*crystal or glass for the anniversary modern gift (this can be faux crystal gems, a glass embellishment, etc.),
AND

*ODBD stamps

I created this 12x12 layout for Kelley which I’ll be framing and sending to her as a gift:

The scripture is from the As You Graduate set which I thought summed up her third year in business:

Although the photo wasn’t the sharpest it was my favorite I have of Kelley.  I snapped this picture at last year’s CHA in Anaheim after she spotted this fuchsia hat in a store at Downtown Disney.  I thought it would be fun to just keep the color of the hat and black and white the rest of the photo. I snuck in the Butterfly Single, too.

I added paper fuchsia flowers to my butterfly vine and a few other flowers.  It wouldn’t have been complete without my Zva swirls…the “glass” rhinestones were the perfect touch!

Scrapbook Layout Recipe
Stamp: ODBD As You Graduate, Butterfly Single
Ink: Time Holtz Antique Linen, Versamark
Paper: K & Company Life’s Journey, DCWV La Crème, Stampin’ Up! Pixie Pink
Accessories: Cricut Plantin SchoolBook cartridge, Graphic 45 Botanical cut-out, Reflections Mulberry Butterfly Vine, paper fuchsia flowers, large gold brads, Zva Creative Pearls, black embossing powder
