King for a day!

I LOVE doggies! We have two “other” children and they inspired me to play with one of the super cute Charlie Dog digital stamp from McMahon Five Designs.

M5D 013

I made Charlie a cute little crown using my EK Success Morocco Lace border punch:

M5D 014

Oh, and these are our other children. Bella is a Maltese/Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso mix which I like to call a “Shiapsotese”…LOL! That giant on the left is our 5-month old German Shepherd, Eli. Believe it or not they get along just fine!

Play along with the ODBD Shining the Light Challenge

There’s a new Shining the Light Challenge posted over at the Our Daily Bread designs blog so I hope many of you will participate! This week’s challenge is to make the sentiment or scripture the focal point of your card or project. Very easy, especially if you own ODBD stamp sets because the scriptures are so beautifully made that they can stand alone on any card!

I’m still LOVING the paper flowers I’ve been making, thanks to Beate’s tutorial. Here’s my card for the ODBDSLC14 Sentiment Challenge using a scripture from the For the Graduate set:

ODBD 124

I used the negative cut out of the Spellbinders Classic Frame die. A great way to use those scraps! I love the open space it gave me to place designer paper under it and add texture with my Cuttlebug.

I took inspiration from the movie “Becoming Jane” which is the current challenge over at Cinema Saturday.  I wanted my card to look timeless as Austen’s work truly is timeless.  Her writings were of hope for the future and oddly enough I think the Jeremiah scripture fit that idea.

Enter your sentiment card today by linking your post over at the ODBD Blog and you just may grab a Shining the Light Award badge to display on your blog or even win an ODBD gift certificate!

Challenge for this card:

ODBD Stamping In Time Challenge

Today is another Stamping In Time Challenge (SNTODBD10) from Our Daily Bread designs and the hostess is none other than Bread Stick alumna Silke Ledlow. She is challenging us with a sketch and you can go check that out over at the ODBD Blog as well as the challenge guidelines. For the current sketch you have your choice of either creating a low and long card or a tall and thin one.

I decided to create a low and long card and used one of my favorite ODBD sets, Lift Up Our Hands, and paired it with one of the May sets, God’s Hands. I thought they were a perfect match!

Yes, I AM a Twilight Saga fan!!

Ever heard of Stephanie Meyer? LOL! I read the whole Twilight series one after the other and it made me feel like a teenager again so I wanted to salute the whole Twilight craze with this shadowbox frame. I had the design in my head for quite some time and finally made it to fruition, having worked on it through last night and into today.

I wanted to highlight the main characters and some of my favorite quotes from them so here it is:

Twilight Saga Shadow Box 017

Twilight Saga Shadow Box 010 Twilight Saga Shadow Box 011

Twilight Saga Shadow Box 012 Twilight Saga Shadow Box 013

Twilight Saga Shadow Box 015 Twilight Saga Shadow Box 014

The anticipation of the Eclipse movie is almost unbearable!!! My friend is a true fan of Twilight and I wanted to give her a card to help with the wait of the Eclipse movie release:

Your hand will guide me…

The God’s Hands set from Our Daily Bread designs holds such a powerful message and just by looking at the main image you can see why!

ODBD 121

ODBD 122

I instantly knew I wanted to make the dimensional flowers after seeing Beate’s wonderful tutorial on SCS. I also knew that using heavier weight paper would make it more difficult to shape, but I just had to use the beautiful print from the DCWV Cafe Mediterranean Stack. The thing that helped keep my cardstock flowers stay together were mini Dot n Go Glue Dots! They may be mini but they sure are STRONG little dots!

Stop by the ODBD store and check out what’s new! From Spellbinder dies to Memory Box papers to real wood papers…you’ll find lots of new things to play with!

Challenges for this card:

Caardvarks – sketch

Just For Fun – Color Challenge #11

Tally Scrapper – sympathy cards

Also…May 21 is my 2nd Blogoversary and I’ve got some candy to give away! Stay tuned!

Flowers Abound!

There’s a new ODBD Shining Light Challenge up and it smells like flowers! The ODBD CT is asking for flowers in your creations so break out your precious stash (I’m talking to all you hoarders! I’m guilty of hoarding, too!) and play them up in your cards or projects.

I actually used my Martha Stewart punch to add my floral accents to my ensemble, along with the ODBD For the Graduate and As You Graduate sets:

ODBD 113

ODBD 115 ODBD 114

I loved the tealight cake idea from Splitcoast and thought it would be neat to use it on a cake box I cut from my Cricut Expression (cut at 8.5”). I traced a circle using a Spellbinders die on top of the cake box and cut out a hole. The size I chose was a snug fit so that the tealight didn’t need to be secured in any way.

ODBD 120

Get all the details of the current Shining Light Challenge HERE. We hope you’ll play along because we love seeing your creations!

Card and Cake Box Recipe
Stamp: ODBD For the Graduate and As You Graduate

New digis at McMahon Five Designs

Sue of McMahon Five Designs recently released brand new digital stamps and stocked up on some fab embellies so head on over there to check them out, BUT before you go, here’s a card I made using the Charlie Dog Watching digi:

M5D121

M5D122

Isn’t Charlie a cutie patootie?! I do have to make a confession. I didn’t actually color the image. I let my Photoshop Elements do the work. It was the first time I used the paint bucket in PSE to color in my digital image and I think I’m hooked! I just duplicated the finished image and cut out the fish bowl to add dimension.

Challenges for this card:

MMSC53

Digital Doodle Palace – Recipe calls for 3 buttons, 1 ribbon, 2 papers

Dare You To Digi – Challenge 37 Anything Goes

Card Recipe
Digital Stamp: M5D Charlie Dog Watching
Paper: DCWV Linen Closet, Stampin Up Blue Bayou
Accessories: Zva Creative Line Pearls Night Blue and Taupe, Fiskars Effervescence border punch, light blue buttons, taupe paper floss, Photoshop Elements 7

ODBD 097

My husband’s niece had her First Communion ceremony this past Saturday and I wanted to give her something that would help her commemorate such a special occasion with a little memory book for her to fill with pictures and a bookmark for her bible. I used my Bind-It-All and Spellbinders to create these for her:

ODBD 094

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week and Glue Dots goodies!

We love to show our teachers and staff over at Ronald Reagan Elementary how much we appreciate all their hard work in furthering our children’s education so I took the time to make some extra special treats, thanks to bakerella.com. I took her creation and mixed and matched flavors to create my own cake pops!

Here are two cake pop bouquets made with chocolate or vanilla covered yellow cake with toasted coconut and colored sugar sprinkles:

Cake Pop Bouquet

This carrot cake bouquet is for one of my son’s teacher who loves carrot cake and the colors blue and pink. The border and sentiment is from the Give Thanks and Vine Borders sets by Our Daily Bread designs and the gorgeous pink Prima Lilies can be found over at McMahon Five Designs:

Food 011

Food 010

Here’s an Oreo Truffle pop and what these and the cake pops look like when I…umm…took a taste test. Hey, all bakers should always taste their creations for quality control…ALWAYS! LOL!

So, did you gain 5 lbs. just by looking at the sinfully sweet treats? I made sure to give them all away. Well, except for maybe 2 or 3 or 5. For my kids…for my kids! Sheesh! LOL!

On another sweet but CALORIE-FREE note…I was chosen as Glue Dots Fan of the Week over on Facebook and look at the goodies they sent me:

GD

Thank you, Glue Dots!! I was running low so these will definitely be put to good use! If you haven’t used them, you really should. They have all different kinds for all your crafting needs!

Thanks for taking a look at my baked goods! Sorry if I made you drool….

The little graduation cap pop is made up of a miniature Reese’s peanut butter cup, a peanut butter Ghirardelli square, a strip from an Airhead Xtreme candy and a star candy sprinkle. My son wants me to make these for his classmates at the end of the year. I can’t believe he’ll be in middle school next year! I wish I could say that it was all my idea, but it’s from a fabulous site called Bakerella. Go check it out!
