Masculine and blue…

Ok, making “manly” cards freak me out…LOL! I can easily do “girly” cards and have them whipped out in no time, but ask me to do a man card and I’m like a deer caught in the headlights! Once again I pulled out my Happy Father’s Day set from Our Daily Bread designs and kept to the idea that less is more. What man really wants a heavily embellished card, right? I went monochromatic and this card was born:

ODBD 086

ODBD 087

I figured buttons would be ok…it’s not like they’re pink or anything, right? I added “metal” highlights to some tools using my Shimmerz in Silver Bells.

Come back tomorrow as I will have a little May ODBD sneak peek !

Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge – MMSC51

Card For Men – Challenge 9 Monochromatic

New digital from McMahon Five Designs

When Sue of McMahon Five Designs unveiled one of her new digital stamps I was floored! I knew after seeing it that I didn’t want to do too much to it for fear that it would lose the detailing in the artwork. I tinkered with the If I Had A Flower digi and created this card (I separated the quote from the digi):

M5D 010

M5D 011 M5D 012

As always, you’ll want to stop by the McMahon Five Designs every chance you get because new images and embellishments are added often! You can check out the new goodies HERE.

Can I do “masculine”? Hmmm…

Ok, if you’ve followed my blog and seen my work then you definitely know I lean towards the very feminine side of crafting. Today I finally took on the wonderfully designed Happy Father’s Day set from Our Daily Bread designs. I kept putting it off and putting it off because I didn’t feel very confident in creating a masculine card, but with a little time and extra effort I created this:

ODBD 080

ODBD 081

With April being Earth Month and a focus on recycling I thought I’d use some clips I removed from my curtain rings that I had no use for but just could not throw away. I’m so glad I kept them because I think they added interest to my card.

As far as for the Crafty Cardmakers challenge, the question was posed: If you were on a Desert Island for at least 6 months, what crafty essentials would you *need* to have with you? What would you never tire of or get bored with if these were the only things you had? Aside from my designer paper I’d have to say my foam adhesives, Glue Dots, my ODBD stamps because the scriptures in the sets give me comfort and my Cuttlebug and Spellbinders supplies.

I hope you join the ODBD Challenge Team in creating a card or project using a recycled/repurposed item! Make sure to upload your creation(s) HERE.

Fabergé-esque

Hi everyone! Mother's Day is just around the corner and I wanted to make something very elegant and pink for my wonderful mother-in-law. I have always been fascinated with those gorgeous Fabergé Eggs and so that is what inspired my little ensemble today using the Happy Mother's Day set from Our Daily Bread designs and this week’s MMSC48 (even though it's round!):

ODBD 073

It’s difficult to see in the photo, but I sprayed Tattered Rose Glimmer Mist over the silver embossed wreath.

ODBD 077

I've had the Prima Flowers of the Month Collection for several years and I thought it was time to stop hoarding! I have all 12 months of the collection so I had plenty to work with :).

ODBD 070

I bought a 5" round styrofoam ball and attached a decorative trim as a handle using two extra long pins. I then proceeded to cover the styrofoam with my Prima flowers with short flathead pins. Juts go around and around and around until you have covered it completely.

ODBD 072

So break out with all your Prima flowers and have some floral fun!ODBD 076

It took me quite a while to complete it, but my mother-in-law is worth the extra effort and I'm happy with how it turned out :).

Ensemble Recipe
Stamp: ODBD Happy Mother’s Day
Ink: Versamark
Paper: K & Company Madeline pad, Prism Spring Willow pack
Accessories: Prima Flowers of the Month, silver rhinestones, tulle and pearl trim, 5” styrofoam ball, silver embossing powder, silk ribbons (olive, white, pink) flathead pins, Glimmer Mist Tattered Rose

I played along with this week’s Stamping In Time challenge of tearing and used a wonderful quote by Cardinal Mermillod that can be found in the new Mom set from Our Daily Bread designs. I used my Cricut machine to cut out the flowers in two sizes, dampened them with water, scrunched, pinched and tore to distress them:

April Fool’s Day Fun!

Can you guess who created this card?? Read on to find out how to participate!

Today being April Fool's Day, the sticks in the Bread Basket decided it would be fun to play a little game with the new release sets from Our Daily Bread designs:

Happy%20Mother%27s%20Day Mom

Happy%20Father%27s%20Day Dad

We are not doing a "formal Blog Hop", but each member of the design team have all posted a card using the new sets and are linking each other in their posts. There are no secret words or letters to collect. However, just like in a blog hop, there will be prizes for viewing every DT's blog, leaving comments on those they can, and returning to the ODBD Blog to tell us you have done so. Two winners will be randomly chosen from those who do this, and they will each receive a $15.00 Gift Certificate toward stamps from the ODBD Store.

You’ll be happy to know that the ODBD Blog can now take anonymous comments so everyone should be able to do that and if anyone cannot make a comment on any DT's blog, just state that in the comment). We each CASED or copied the style of another DT member and then sent our card to that person to post on their blog today. The fun is going to be to see how well Kelley really knows her team, because she has to guess who created which card. We'll ask her to make a list of each DT member and write next to their name who she thinks made the card they posted.

It's all just in fun, but if you'd like to play along, feel free! You can email your guesses to Grace at: gnywening@yahoo.com up until 8PM Eastern on April 2. ONLY ONE email please! The one or ones (in the case of a tie) who correctly guessed the most will be given recognition on the ODBD Blog. Winners will be announced April 3 on the ODBD Blog.

Here’s “my” card:
