TIOT #27 - A little "sketchy"

This week's Try It Out Tuesday from SCACD is a sketch and I have to admit, I totally played around with it. All the elements are there, but I wanted to incorporate a little castle with my Victoria image and didn't have the heart to tilt it. So, here's my pieced castle:

I've seen some really awesome paper-pieced cards out there and mine pales in comparison, but I was just happy to be able to give little Princess Victoria a fairytale castle of her own :).

Card Recipe:

Stamp: SCACD Victoria

Ink: StazOn Black

Paper: K & Company Hannah pad, Prismatic Pink Pack, SEI Bridgeport pad (for leaves), SU Going Gray cs, black cs, watercolor paper

Accessories: CB ef, Ornare template, SU Flower Trio punch, Kaisercraft Snow Pearls, pearl and mesh trim, watercolor markers, foam adhesive, Gold Stickles, Icicle Stickles, Inkssentials white pen, Liquid Pearls White Opal

Now, don't forget to visit the Follow Your Heart blog! There is something EXCITING going on over there so you'll definitely want to check that out! And remember, the SCACD Blog Hop is on Thursday, July 16 and the Elisabeth Bell SCACD exclusive line will be released Friday, July 17!

TIOT #26 - Scrapbook It!

Oh my! I've made only a handful of scrapbook pages in the last couple of years so when we were challenged to create a scrapbook page for this week's Try It Out Tuesday I was a little iffy. BUT, I got lucky! When I had all the kids over for a few days a couple of weeks ago I snapped a picture of them crowded around a tree and my son Marcus said "Look, Mommy! We're a family tree!" and I thought he was just so clever! I had also taken other "tree photos" at different times and realized each time more kids seem to have "sprouted".

The next dilemma was which SCACD stamp should I use. Lo and behold! Little Helper from Anki's Sweethearts Series 2 jumped out with wood in hand and ready to build the Kim Family Tree. I was almost STUMPED (hehehehe) by this challenge, but I think I pulled through: Scrapbook Page Recipe:

Stamp: Little Helper

Ink: StazOn black

Paper: DCWV Latte Stack, SU Bella Rose designer paper, SU cs (Real Red, Kool Kraft, Basic Brown, Sahara Sand), watercolor paper

Accessories: Karen Foster Scrappers Floss (White, Brown), buttons, Sticky Strips, Cricut machine, Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, computer generated "Building the Kim" (Comic Sans font), watercolor markers

At least that's one scrapbook page down and only 1,000 more to go! Please visit the Follow Your Heart blog to see what the rest of the SCACD DT came up with :).

A red, white and blue TIOT #25!

Welcome to another TIOT for SCACD! With 4th of July just around the corner, we were challenged to use red, white and blue colors on our card. I don't own any patriotic images from SCACD so I emphasized using adorable Catherine from Anki's Sweethearts Series 1. I used this week's Mojo Monday Week 93 sketch and at first I was going to place Catherine in the middle of a star, but then decided she's looked better perched on it :).

Card Recipe:

Stamp: Young Catherine with Friends from Anki's Sweethearts Series 1

Ink: StazOn black

Paper: Karen Foster Designs, SU Real Red cs

Accessories: Spellbinders (Doodle Parts, Classic Large Rectangles, Classic Scallop Large Rectangles), Dress It Up Glitter Dots 14 Karat, Smooch Moonlight (on shirt flower and pants patch), watercolor paper, watercolor markers, Cricut machine, Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, Sticky Strips

Make sure to stop by July 2 for some exciting news from SCACD!

Fluffy TIOT #24 with tutorial!

I'm up to 4, YES, FOUR BOYS until Wednesday evening...then I'll have 7...SEVEN...kids here (4 boys and 3 girls) until Friday night and it's just going to be little 'ol me! It's a lot of work, but well worth it for the brothers and cousins to be able to spend some time together. I just hope I SURVIVE! LOL!

For today's SCACD TIOT we were challenged with Clearly Summer -using acetate in our project. I decided to make a Fluffy Magic Card which I haven't done in ages! I'm sure there are many different techniques out there for magic cards, but I'll show you how I made mine:
Here's how it came together:

It's very handy to have a Stamp-a-ma-jig when doing this technique to get perfect alignment. I aligned my acetate and acrylic block at the corner of the Stamp-a-ma-jig. Do this for the watercolor paper or cardstock, too.
Color in your image.

After I let the Stickles dry on the flower I placed my stamped acetate over my colored image. I made a folded strip of cardstock to hold the two pieces together.

Create a sleeve for the "magic" by cutting a window on the front and adhering a "screen" to the inside. Front view:

The back will not be shown so there's no need to make it look pretty. Just make sure to seal the back securely.

You want a space between the sleeve and the screen:

Slide your image into the sleeve:

Once you make your first one it's really easy and kids really get a kick out of seeing the "magic" happen right before their very eyes!

Card Recipe:

Stamp: Fluffy from Anki's Sweethearts Series 2

Ink: Staz-On Black

Paper: SU Bella Rose designer series pack, SU cs (Old Olive, Rose Red), watercolor paper

Accessories: Grafix acetate, Dress It Up Color Me Pink buttons, Distress Stickles (Worn Lipstick, Scattered Straw), watercolor markers, hole punch, white satin ribbon, Spellbinders Classic Large Rectangles

I hope my tutorial made you want to try out this technique. I also hope to keep my sanity after this week!

A little RAH RAH RAH for TIOT #23 and a Box of Scriptures

My apologies to the SCACD DT for having such a late post with today's TIOT. I've had a sick stepson and I had some kind of 24-hour thing that made me "bleh". This week's challenge was a sketch: I decided to use Julia from the new Anki's Sweetheart Series 2 collection and thought she'd be perfect for a spinner card because cheerleaders like to twirl and tumble! I also incorporated a punched border for this weeks OCCC challenge. Card Recipe:

Stamp: Julia from Anki's Sweethearts Series 2

Ink: Versamark

Paper: Making Memories Sabrina pad, Prismatics Pink Pack, SU Pretty In Pink, black cs

Accessories: Ranger white Inkssentials pen, Spellbinders Flower Impressabilties, Spellbinders Large Scalloped Circles die, Super Fine black detailing ep, Fiskars Sunburst border punch

************************************************************************************
I made this ODBD gift box of scriptures for SCS's IC184 Lovely Package challenge and chose this as my inspiration:

I had been wanting to make a little Quiet Waters gift box to hold scriptures from the Scripture Collection 1 and Scripture Collection 2 sets I broke out with my little Cricut machine to cut out the box and here's the final result: I added decorative piercing using an Ornare Corner template to give each little scripture card a little "oomph" :).Gift Box Recipe:

Stamps: ODBD Quiet Waters, Scripture Collection 1, Scripture Collection 2

Ink: Versamark, Ranger Antique Linen distress pad

Paper: SU (Kool Kraft, Chocolate Chip)

Accessories: Ornare corner template, Ranger Silver ep, Prima Dandies 5, white satin ribbon

Thanks for swinging on by and I hope everyone continues to enter my blog candy - it ends June 23!

Here's another look at one of the images. Meet Rebecka! I love this image of her playing teacher to her stuffed animals (they even look like eager students raising their hands...er...paws! LOL!). The sentiment is from the Susanaments #2 collection and that's also available NOW!

I added a little splash of yellow using Petaloo Dazzlers. I also used a little Crystal Stickles to accent the flower on Rebecka's dress as well as the bunny's hat to play off of the glitter from the Petaloo. Card Recipe:
