Playing with stitch witchery

Here's the quick and easy tutorial I promised you all so gather your materials :).

What you'll need:
  • heat gun

  • embossing powder

  • cardstock

  • stitch witchery (fusible webbing that is sold by the yard or in a small roll package)

  • anti-static pad

  • scissors

Cut a piece of stitch witchery that is at least 1" bigger than your piece of cardstock. Rub the cardstock with the anti-static pad to prevent stray embossing powders.
Place the stitch witchery on top of the cardstock and melt with your heat gun. The more you heat it the more "holes" and "webbing" will be formed.
Quickly pour embossing powder on top of the hot stitch witchery and tap off excess powder.
Melt embossing powder. More holes and webbing will form.
Trim off excess stitch witchery from the edges.
Use your piece as a background or accent for your card.

So simple, right? Now it's your turn! I'd love to see what you all can create using this technique. Have fun using different colors of cardstock and embossing powers. Don't forget to leave a comment with a link to your card...you'll be entered into a random drawing for the Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paints!

  10. that turned out very cool, but i have a question. After you sprinkled on the embossing powder and heated, the next picture shows the stitch witchery the color of you embossing powder and the background paper a lighter color, but in the next photo the background papr mathes the color of the stitch witchery. How did you achieve that?
