Shaved Chalk Technique

Here is a very simple and fun technique to create colorful backgrounds.

What you'll need:

• colored chalks
• glossy cardstock
• bowl of water
• a plastic knife to scrape chalks
• toothpick (not pictured)
• spray sealant or aerosol hairspray (not pictured)
  

Scrape 3 coordinating colors of chalk into the bowl of water.

Swirl the colors a bit with a toothpick. Don't over do it or you'll muddy the colors.Dip your glossy cardstock glossy-side down into the chalk water. Quickly lift the cardstock straight up, holding onto the edges so you don't smear the chalks.

Your finished product :).

Gently blot excess water with tissue. Cardstock will curl, but once it's dry you can flatten it. Make sure to seal the chalk with some type of sealant (matte or glossy). I use hairspray because it smells a whole lot better than the chemical stuff....and you can get the aerosol hairsprays at your local dollar store!
