Snowman Christmas

Everyone loves a snowman, from the carrot nose to coal eyes to the top hat and ODBD captured all the snowy fun feelings in the Warm Wishes set.  I created another card using this fun set:

I added Stickles on my trees and “snow” to add a bit of magic.  I know I use a lot of pearls on my cards, but I especially liked it on this one because it made it more whimsical, like a swirl of snow!

New December ODBD sets will be out in a few days along with our usual blog hop so stay tuned!

ODBD Scrapbook Challenge (ODBDLYLS11)

We hope many of you have tried your hand at incorporating ODBD stamps into your scrapbook pages.  If you haven’t then why not start by participating in this month’s ODBDLYLS11 color challenge.

I muted the colors and came out with this 12x12 page that features the Faith stamp set:

Instead of using the image from the set as a main embellishment I used it to create my background on the salmon colored cardstock.  I loved the Mother Teresa quote from the set and thought it was very fitting for my page with my wonderful sons!

Something as simple as background stamping can help create a cohesive page so give it a try on your next layout!

This month’s Stamping In Time Challenge

I’m happy to have had the chance to join this month’s SNTODBD48 challenge which was to create anything with a Christmas theme, from cards to gifts.  Once again I played up on just the scripture, Luke 2:14 from the Christmas Verses set, for my card:

I like playing around with my Spellbinders die to see if I can use them in a different way and I loved how the Labels 18 turned out.

I have various types of ribbon and I came across a two-colored one that hasn’t been used often and I thought it was just perfect for the papers from the Basic Grey Jovial pad.

Now it’s your turn!  Join in on the challenge and upload your creation onto the ODBD Blog.  You just may win a gift certificate to the ODBD store!

Card Recipe
Stamp: ODBD Christmas Verses
Ink: Versamark
Paper: Basic Grey Jovial, glitter cardstock, Stampin’ Up! (Certainly Celery, Always Artichoke)
Accessories: Spellbinders Labels 18, two-toned ribbon, super fine detail gold embossing powder, gold cording, brass charm, Cuttlebug Holly Ribbon embossing folder

The gift…

I know Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I’ve been posting Christmas cards, but I can’t help it.  If it was up to me it would be Christmas all year!  Aside from the holiday decorations and fancy dinners we must always remember why we’re celebrating and Romans 6:23 from ODBD’s Gift of God set reflects that:

I chose not to use any image because I wanted the focus to be on the scripture.  Under all the embellishments is a circle die cut using striped designer paper, but after working and reworking my design it somehow got lost under all the popped layers.

If you’re looking to highlight the true meaning of Christmas look no further than Our Daily Bread designs’ Christmas sets!

Stamp: ODBD Gift of God
Ink: Versamark

Accessories: Spellbinders (Classic Large Circles, Classic Small Circles, Cuttlebug Victoria embossing folder, Tattered Angels (Glimmer Mist, Glimmer Alphabet Chips) pearls, super fine detail gold embossing powder, ribbon, lace trim, jewel brad

Look out the window!

With the ODBD custom Spellbinders Window die you CAN look out…or in!.  Two new sets easily allows you to create both!  No more “curtains” to handcut and that’s a relief!!

Here’s my card that looks out through a window using the whimsical Warm Wishes set:

I added acetate to the back of my window pane to make it more realistic just like a snowman!!  Snowmen are real, aren’t they?!  I also sprinkled Polar White Flower Soft for my snow.

I may be in California, but I’m starting to feel the crisp chill of winter especially after visiting Julian for the first time this past weekend.  Luckily it snowed briefly so hubby and I got to play a little!

A simple kind of Christmas

I wanted to continue on with creating simple Christmas cards that don’t take a lot of time making, but the end result sure looks like you spent hours making it.

I wanted to make an elegant card and digging through my stash of embellishments I found another of these bargain bin frames from Michaels (I used one in THIS card).  I used it differently this time and here’s what I came up in 10 minutes using a sentiment from the Christmas Door set:

A little bow and charm bumped up the elegance factor, don’t you think?  Don’t be afraid NOT to color images on your cards.  Just sentiments and scriptures alone can be your focal point.  In the end that’s what really matters, doesn’t it?  I know I have a long Christmas card list this year and I think this design is a keeper.

Please come back tomorrow and participate in the Our Daily Bread designs November New Release Blog Hop!!

Card Recipe
Stamp: ODBD Christmas Door
Ink: Versamark
Paper: Prima Reflections, Stampin’ Up! Bordering Blue
Accessories: Michael’s mini resin frame, silver Christmas tree charm, white silk ribbon, silver cording, Martha Stewart Double Arches border punch, black super fine detail embossing powder

LOVING the ODBD Joy Tree stamp!!

I just love it when a card comes together in a jiffy and this usually happens when the stamp I’m working with does all the work for me.  The Joy Tree from Our Daily Bread designs is just that kind of stamp!

The various fonts used did all the “prettying up” for me and all I did was just add layers of designer paper from the Prima Reflections pad:

The only other “prettying” I did was spray some Pearl Glimmer Mister and I was done!

Brand new November stamp sets from ODBD are just around the corner so keep on alert!

Card Recipe
Stamp: ODBD Joy Tree
Ink: Versamark
Paper: Prima Reflections, Stampin’ Up! Sahara Sand

ODBDLYLS10–Sketch Challenge

This month’s ODBD Scrapbook Team challenge was to follow THIS SKETCH and I do LOVE working off of sketches.  It makes it so much easier to plan out my page and I can play around with the sizes.

Here is my 12x12 page:

I cut out my gold embossed Christmas Rose and watercolored it.  I think the gold gave my page a more vintage feel and after seeing how young my sons and their cousins look in the picture I was feeling rather nostalgic…even if the photo was taken only six years ago.  They do grow up way too fast!

We hope the monthly Scrapbook Team challenges have shown you how easily it is to incorporate Our Daily Bread designs stamps into your page layouts.  Please join us for all our monthly challenges and upload your creations!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Cards, that is!  I love it when Our Daily Bread designs releases Christmas sets this early because it allows me to get ahead.

I’m also super excited because the Elegant Oval Frames set that coordinates with the custom ODBD Spellbinders Elegant Ovals dies is one that I designed!

Here’s my card using the Christmas Door and Elegant Oval Frames set:

I added a little Polar White Flower Soft for a neat snow effect and dotted a few berries using glittery red Stickles.  You know how much I LOVE dimension so I popped up the bow.

So, that’s one Christmas card down and oh, maybe about 100 or so more to go.  Don’t delay…go grab up a few ODBD Christmas sets and start dwindling down your Christmas card list!

The Good Seed

We hope you’ve enjoyed using your September ODBD sets with all the wonderful gardening themes and inspiring scriptures!  If you haven’t already grabbed a few of the sets…what are you waiting for?!

October new releases are only a few days away and let me tell you, they are FABULOUS!  I should have a little sneak peek for you all tomorrow.  For now, I have one more card to share with you using this month’s The Good Seed set:

I’m pretty proud of myself for tilting some of my layers in this card.  I lean towards clean, straight lines so this was a bit of a challenge for me to step away from that.

As for the scripture Matthew 13:37, do you see the parable in it?  The seed is the Gospel and the sower is the person who spreads the Word of God.

Continue to sow the good seed!

Easy Canvas Prints…WOW!

Who would have thought this photo I took of my sons could turn into a piece of artwork!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I recently got a photo of my sons that I love onto an 18”x24” canvas frame from Easy Canvas Prints and I am blown away by it’s quality!  Just take a look:

I added the Marc Brown quote in Photoshop and uploaded the finished photograph during the Easy Canvas Prints design process.  It is really is THAT EASY!

I also chose the wrap-around feature for my canvas frame.

So we get to pass by this beautiful framed art every day and my sons always have a big smile on their faces each time.  Thank you, Easy Canvas Prints!

PLEASE VOTE for ART MENDOZA on The Biggest Loser…read on!

This is completely out of the realm of cardmaking and scrapbooking, but I wanted to help my friend out as much as possible!

I’m sure many of you know of the show The Biggest Loser, right?  Well, there is a version in the Philippines that premiered this year and my friend, Ernesto Mendoza, has his older brother named Art Mendoza, competing on the show!  The competition is down to only FIVE (That’s right…5!) contestants and Art is one of them!

I am asking those who have a Facebook page for help!  Art Mendoza needs your support!  Please click on this link to cast your vote for him:

http://www.facebook.com/questions/251349754904471/

Art has lost an incredible 100+ lbs. in just 4 months!  Now, doesn’t that deserve votes?  I SURE THINK SO!  Please watch this quick video of Art on the show.  It is in a different language (Tagalog), but I hope you enjoy it just the same:

Thank you all in advance!

ODBD scrapbook challenge

We hope the scrapbook pages the ODBD Scrapbook Team has been showcasing have proven that the stamps incorporate themselves rather nicely into cherished and favorite photographs.

I never use to use stamps on my scrapbook pages, but after designing pages for the Scrapbook Team I am now in LOVE with using them!

This month’s challenge was to use vellum (ODBDLYLS9) and here’s the 12x12 page I created:

I used vellum on my layered butterflies:

I used the Seed Packet set because I knew it was perfect for my journaling which I typed up on my computer (I don’t like handwriting my journaling.  I’d rather use pretty fonts that mimic handwriting).  The large seed packet stamp highlighted it wonderfully!

We hope you join the ODBD Scrapbook Team challenges every month!  We’d love to see your keepsake pages!

Faith makes it possible!

Have you ever felt lost with no sense of direction?  Felt helpless and not in control of certain situations?  Felt discouraged and alone?  I know I have.  Whether I’m feeling down in the dumps or “lost” I never waiver in my faith in Him.  Having faith that He will pull me through whatever hardship has befallen me or my family.

I wanted to reflect on my faith with this card using Matthew 17:20 from the Seed Packet set:

The outcome may not always be what I want or what I expect, but I follow whatever direction He sends me…having just enough faith to accept the path He leads me to and forge through it.  It’s been said time and time again, but it’s a saying well worth repeating - KEEP THE FAITH!

Today, I have a little sneak peek from one of the upcoming ODBD September sets called Tiger Lily:

I used this week’s sketch from Splitcoaststampers and what I THOUGHT was the current color challenge, but was mistaken.  I ran with it anyway since I had cut everything and bleached out the flowers already.

Our ODBD Blog Hop will be on Sept. 1 so don’t miss out!  You’re going to love the new sets!

Ink: Versamark, Versafine Black Onyx
